A life course is an age category through which a person passes between birth and death so technically to me it means a passage through life. A life course involves stages such as infancy. Childhood, sexual maturation, adulthood, and old age. At some point in everybody's life they will be in one of those stages. I think around the world people's life courses are probably different I don't think they would be the same everywhere . For example in some people's lives they are suppose to be married by a certain time so for their life course marriage would most likely be in one of their stages because that is what is expected from their culture. It would be an important part of the life course because that is what their culture is like. Then as for around our region there are different looks about marriage like getting married before you have children but for the most part it's not a big deal when you get married. I think that rites of passages are important because it shows a big change in what you can do after you hit a certain age like for example when you turn 18 years old in america you have the right to vote which is very important. I think rites of passages introduce you to something good that can happen in your life that marks new stages in our life courses. I think that even marriage would be a rites passage because it's changing your life course in a way that has never been done before. Marriage to me would be a huge change in your life stages because you are adapting to another person that is going to be apart of your life so you would have to look at that person in your life line because when you get married that person is a part of you.
