What is language? Explain the role language plays in your culture? In your life? What causes a communication breakdown? How can we improve our communication to avoid miscommunication?
Language is the way in which we communicate with others of our species. Language and culture together are very important to the development of human individuals. Without it physical and social development can not be completed. Our language and culture provide us with the concepts and terms for thought itself. This proves that the human mind is very dependant on SOME sort of language to help us develop and advance successfully through life.
Looking at biological features language is so important to Homo Sapiens that we actually evolved to communicate. Examples being the speaking region in our brain and also our our vocal tract. Our vocal tract consists of four major parts that allow us to speak. These are the lungs, trachea (vocal cords included), mouth, and nasal passages. Our vocal tract highly evolved for communication, so evolved in fact it isn’t seen in any other species. It really is a remarkable resonating chamber.
Throughout our lives we depend on language to help us to communicate. Without language we would not know the many thing we do today. Without any type of language including vocal, body, and sign, the world would be in a state of hysteria. We would not be able to communicate at all with our fellow beings and we would never be able to communicate our thought if we even had them.
A language breakdown is when you take every aspect of a language and break it down to completely understand it. There are many ways we can use this to help limit miscommunications. If around the world a common language was known the people could speak it and use it to communicate better. But this is a very unrealistic goal because you cannot force language on a person.
